Kennedie King | Grassroots Organizer
Kennedie King is a Black and genderqueer interdisciplinary artist, hailing from but explicitly not repping the suburbs outside of the Metro Detroit Area in Southeastern Michigan . Their artistic work explores self-portraiture and their relationship to the shadow-self or silhouette as the epitome of the affirming image. They were previously enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as a student-artist in the OMAI First Wave: Hip Hop and Urban Arts Scholarship Program. Through the First Wave community, King was able to continue their foundational craft as a poet and performer, while branching out into other artistic mediums.
